Tips for Tokyo

Large stations such as Tokyo, Shinjuku and Shibuya have several toilet areas, some inside and some outside the ticket gates. Station floor maps near exits mark them with a toilet symbol.
If the toilet is inside the ticket gates and you are not travelling, ask the staff at the manned gate instead of tapping your IC card; entering without a journey normally needs staff handling or a platform ticket.
Department stores and large shopping buildings around Ginza, Nihonbashi and Shinjuku usually have clean toilets on most floors during opening hours.
Big parks such as Ueno Park and Yoyogi Park have several public toilets spread across the park.
